ABOUT THE PROJECT

Every year thousands of students attend the University of San Diego and safety is one of the university’s top priorities. Student awareness is one of the best ways to keep a campus safe, but safety information is often hard to find, boring, or sought out only after it’s too late.

THE APPROACH

Integrate campus safety information into everyday student life by making it front-and-center on the university app. Each time a student started the app, they’d be greeted with one of 20 safety tips, each accompanied by a light-hearted animation. For the animations, we developed a diverse set of characters and a consistent color palette used across all the icons. The animated icons and the common-sense tips were easy to remember and served as a constant reminder for students to stay safe and aware around campus.
